Administering the Cequence AI Gateway
The Cequence AI Gateway is a central hub that leverages your existing API specifications into AI-accessible tools. Youc an upload API specifications to the Cequence AI Gateway, then create MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers from specific endpoints that connect directly to LLM clients. Administering an instance of the Cequence AI Gateway involves two key areas that directly affect user productivity and organizational AI governance.
User management for seamless AI integration
Managing user accounts and roles determines which accounts have access to the entire functionality of the Cequence AI Gateway and which have restricted functionality. Proper configuration enables developers and business users to quickly transform existing APIs into AI tools without IT bottlenecks, while ensuring only authorized personnel can expose sensitive systems to AI interactions.
Platform integration for enterprise protection
Connecting your AI Gateway to the Cequence Unified API Protection (UAP) platform provides enterprise-grade monitoring for both stored API specifications and generated MCP servers. This integration offers visibility into which APIs are AI-accessible, usage patterns, and suspicious activities, ensuring your API-to-AI integrations maintain security standards.
Why this matters
These functions create an environment where users can rapidly connect business systems to AI capabilities while administrators maintain oversight. Users get self-service API-to-AI integration, while IT teams gain visibility into AI-accessible systems and their usage. The result leverages existing API investments to drive business value without compromising security or governance. The following sections guide you through managing users and configuring platform connections for successful enterprise AI integration.
